Omega Museum Collection – Officer’s Chronograph

Ref. 516.53.39.50.02.001 (2009 – NOS)

Part of Omega’s prestigious Museum Collection, the Officer’s Chronograph Ref. 516.53.39.50.02.001 is a study in quiet power—an elegant chronograph that nods to Omega’s mid-century timing instruments without sacrificing modern crispness.

Part of the Museum Collection No. 8 “Racend Timer 1949”, it wears a refined 39 mm 18K pink/rose-gold case over an opaline-silver dial ringed by a red pulsometer and blue tachymeter, with leaf hands completing the period vocabulary. It’s the kind of dial you want to linger over: purposeful scales, poised typography, and a warmth that only rose gold can deliver.

Movement & Watchmaking

Behind that calm façade beats Omega’s hand-wound Co-Axial calibre 3201—a column-wheel, COSC-certified chronometer with about 55 hours of autonomy. It’s an enthusiast’s movement: smooth pusher feel, classical architecture, and the long-term stability that Co-Axial is known for.

Each piece was delivered with a special Museum-engraved caseback and an individual number, underscoring its place in a limited run of 1,949—a direct tribute to the year celebrated by this edition.

Wearability & Character

On the wrist, the proportions are superb: the 39 mm case offers presence without excess, making it versatile across dress and smart-casual settings. In rose gold on leather, it reads as cultivated rather than loud—exactly the sort of under-the-radar rarity collectors appreciate.

As a chapter of the Museum Collection, the “Racend Timer 1949” distills Omega’s timing heritage into something deeply wearable today: technically serious, historically literate, and quietly irresistible.

Condition & Details

Manufactured for a very short period between 2009 and 2010, This is a rare example of this highly collectible timepiece in pristine condition.

True to the original watch it pays tribute to, the buckle and the strap are not carrying the Omega name nor the logo, just as watches from  the 1940's and 1950's didn't.
